No Love For Us

Starmen.net announced a MOTHER Fanfest, and the few of us who felt the series's first game was grossly underappreciated were pumped... until we realized it was April Fools' Day. I for one was horrified by the thought that the hate for MOTHER 1 is so universal that a Fanfest devoted entirely to it could only be a joke, and a cruel one at that. Kick us fans in the stomach while we're down, why don'cha! But enough people complained about the cruelty of this prank that the staff decided to go on ahead with the Fanfest, which was a fair success. (I still can't believe I didn't wind up submitting really anything for it... such a hypocrite, me.)

Anyway, when the Fanfest was still sure to be a fake, I started this drawing with intentions to unveil it when the prank came to light. No matter the outcome of that day, you can consider this to be kind of a representation of how frickin' sick I often get of all the abuse this poor game takes from EB fans. "Grinding, boring, bad graphix, wah wah wah." They preach with such vehemence that you'd think MOTHER 1 did each of them some kind of unforgivable, horrendous personal wrong! How dare Itoi try to offer us entertainment, and how dare the 1980s exist for being full of those awful 8-bit NES graphics!

That's why this game desperately needs more love.
